Landscaping in Canterbury
Built for narrow access and older gardens
Canterbury gardens are often long, narrow and reached through the house or a side gate you cannot get a barrow through sideways. In Wincheap, St Stephen’s, Hales Place and the streets around the city walls we plan the job around that: materials carried in by hand or on a narrow track, waste taken out the same way, and the house protected while it happens.
Out towards Harbledown, Bridge, Chartham, Sturry and Blean the plots open up and the ground is lighter and drains better than the clay around Ashford, so lawns and planting establish quickly. Much of the city and several villages are conservation areas, which matters for tree work: we tell you if a tree needs notice to the council before we touch it, and we handle the paperwork with you.

What we do in Canterbury
From a tidy courtyard to a full makeover
Homeowners, landlords and letting agents all use us. The brief is usually the same: make it look good and make it easy to keep that way.
Patios and courtyards
Porcelain and sandstone paving that makes the most of a small city garden, with steps and edges planned in.
Fencing
Close-board, panel and slatted fencing, carried in by hand where the only way to the garden is through the house.
Artificial grass and gravel
Low-maintenance lawns and gravel gardens for student and rental properties that need to stay tidy between tenants.
Tree surgery
Crown reductions, pruning and small removals, with conservation area notices and protected trees checked first.
Garden clearance
Overgrown gardens cut back, cleared and left ready, often the first step at a house that has just changed hands.
Garden makeovers
Lawn, borders, paths and planting designed together, for the larger gardens out in the villages.
Where we work
Canterbury, the coast and the villages
The city itself, the coast at Whitstable and Herne Bay, and the villages along the Stour and up on the Blean. Further round towards Faversham, Deal or Sandwich is fine too. See everywhere we cover.

Getting a quote in Canterbury
Free visit, no travel charge
Canterbury is well inside our normal range. We come out, measure up and check the access before pricing anything.
Access priced in
If everything has to come through the house, the quote says so and allows for it. No surprises on the day.
Landlords and agents welcome
We can quote from photos and a key-holder visit, and work between tenancies to a fixed date.
Canterbury questions
My only access is through the house. Can you still do the job?
Yes. A lot of Canterbury terraces are like that. We lay protection through the house, carry materials and waste by hand or on a narrow track, and allow for the extra time in the quote so the price does not change on the day.
Do I need permission for tree work in Canterbury?
If the tree is in a conservation area or has a preservation order, the council needs six weeks’ notice or formal consent before work starts. We check this for you and help with the notice. Hedges and small shrubs are not affected.
Do you do rental and student properties?
Yes, for both landlords and letting agents. Artificial grass, gravel and simple fencing keep the garden tidy with little upkeep, and we can work to a fixed date between tenancies.
